Sketchbooks! over two dozen are full of drawings and paintings....sometimes quick pencils sketches, sometimes ink, sometimes paint! It all depends on how much time I have. The ink and watercolors below are typical of what my 'paintings' in my sketchbooks look like. The others here....well, every once in a while I get an idea, a concept, about how to combine well known elements in a different way. For example: The San Antonio Missions are world famous and many artists have used them in compositions. In thinking about their purpose, it became clear the bells were an important ingredient. They rang out for warnings, call to arms, funerals, weddings, fiestas....those bells were a common thread for all the variously designed structures. I took the five Missions and overlayed/fitted them together to create a new composition. Still not satisfied I knew something was missing.....the music of the bells! Taking a chance, I added dots of color to create a feeling of "Missions' Melodies". This painting earned my Signature Membership in the Texas Watercolor Society.
